Common Teeth Problems

Many people don't know that they have a common problem regarding their teeth or jaw alignment.  A common dental problem can be but not limited to under bite, spacing, protrusion, crowding, cross bite, over bite, open bite, and mid lines.  Under bite is where your lower set of teeth overlap the upper set of teeth.  This can lead to jaw pains.  One potential common dental problem is spacing, which is where you have space between your teeth.  This may be caused by absent teeth or this may be a hereditary matter.  Protrusion is where a set of teeth are sticking out further in proportion to the other sets of teeth.  This can occur with any size teeth.  Crowding takes place when there isn't proper space for your teeth to grow. The incoming teeth are forced to grow over other existing teeth.  One way to fix crowding is to remove some teeth so your other teeth can grow in.  A cross bite is when upper set of teeth fit inside of the lower set of teeth.  This can cause your jaws to be uneven.

When your front section of your top teeth overlaps your front section of your bottom teeth an over bite is occurring.  This can cause damage to the roof of your mouth.  When the front sections of both your upper and lower parts of your teeth don't connect it's because there is an open bite.  This can lead to improper chewing and straining on the other sets of teeth.  Another common dental problem can be dental mid-lines.  If they are not matching then it can effect the movements of your jaws.  If you have any of these common dental problems, than you may want to make an appointment with an orthodontist.  An orthodontist is a specialty dentist who focuses on incorrect bites such as over bites and under bites.  They also focus on misaligned jaw relationships.  Depending on which common dental problem you are experiencing it may take anywhere from a few months to a few years to correct.  If you have a child with one of these problems, it is recommended that you get it resolved when they are young.
